General Statistics
The General Statistics module provides an overview of your entire dataset in Xolmis Mobile. It summarizes information from inventories, nests, specimens, and field journal notes, giving you a broad understanding of your field activity and data collection patterns.
This screen is designed to help you quickly assess sampling effort, species richness, and monitoring coverage across all modules.
Accessing General Statistics
- Open the main menu.
- Tap Statistics.
- The General Statistics screen will load automatically.
This module does not require selecting items; it summarizes all data stored in the app.
Summary Metrics
At the top of the screen, you will find key global metrics:
- Total species recorded – unique species across all inventories.
- Total inventories – number of inventories created.
- Total nests – including active and inactive nests.
- Total specimens – pending and archived.
- Total POIs recorded – number of POIs created.
- Total localities sampled – number of unique localities across all records.
- Top 5 species most recorded – list with the most recorded species across all records, tap See all to open the complete list.
- Records per hour – histogram showing the distribution of records per hour.
- Records per month – histogram showing the distribution of records per month of the year.
- Species richness per month – histogram showing the species richness per month of the year.
- Species richness per year – histogram showing the species richness per year.
These values provide a quick snapshot of your overall fieldwork activity.
Inventories
This section shows statistics specific to inventories.
- Total time sampled – number of non-overlaping sampling hours of inventories.
- Average time sampled – average number of hours used to sample inventories.
- Total days sampled – number of days with inventories.
- Total localities sampled – number of distinct localities sampled in inventories.
Nests
This section shows statistics specific to nests.
- Apparent success rate – apparent success rate of all nests.
- Nidoparasitism rate – rate of nidoparasitism in all nests.
Nests by Fate
A summary chart shows the distribution of nest outcomes:
- Success
- Lost
- Unknown
This provides a quick overview of breeding success across all monitored nests.
Specimens
This section show statistics specific to specimens.
Specimens by Sample Type
A chart displays the number of specimens collected per sample type:
- Feathers
- Tissue
- Carcasses
- Blood
- Other materials
Useful for evaluating the diversity of collected samples.
When to Use General Statistics
General Statistics is useful when:
- Reviewing overall fieldwork effort
- Preparing reports or summaries
- Evaluating long-term sampling patterns
